Acculloy Manufacturing Solutions has begun operations at PerformaCoat, Inc., a new division performing advanced protective and lubricating coating services for oilfield tool, machined component, assembly, mold and fabrications manufacturers in the Gulf Coast-area.

Acculloy is implementing a strategy to provide OEM manufacturers cost reductions of up to 30% and turnaround improvements of 50% by integrating manufacturing processes to eliminate unnecessary transfers among outsourcers, shipping costs and vendor markups.

The new PerformaCoat operation is housed in a 12,000 sq. ft. facility on Houston’s north side featuring a large clean area, five ovens with up to 1,000 cubic ft. capacity, two blast rooms with up to 400 sq. ft. of space, and phosphate tanks up to 12 feet in length. “With this capacity, and a highly experienced team, PerformaCoat is competitive with every other coating company in the Gulf Coast,” said Acculloy president Gerald Chandler II.

“Our turnaround time on parts will be faster than anybody else in town,” Chandler predicted. “We’ll put in extra hours, work around the clock, work weekends, whatever it takes to get the job done. And while we’re doing that, we’re going to give them the best coating job possible.”

PerformaCoat’s services for the oil, petrochemical and oilfield services industries include molybdenum disulfide (moly), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Xylan®, epoxy, zinc, nickel-manganese phosphating, dry film lubricating, and grit blasting. The company specializes in applying thermosetting fluropolymers, baked-on and air-dried industrial coatings.

The new Acculloy operation is managed by 34-year coatings industry veteran Steve Hawkins. Prior to the formation of PerformaCoat, Hawkins owned his own coatings company, and previously helped to manage some of the largest coating companies in the Gulf Coast region.
